Our attitude toward war as EYEAmWatching

"For a society without war"

The international situation surrounding war has been reported daily in recent years.

We often focus on wars from the viewpoint of conflicts between countries or nations and doesn't it seem as if we have forgotten how to look at "war" as a citizen and as a human being?

#EYEAmWatching was launched to provide an opportunity to remind ourselves of this.

Perspective towards war -------------------

What comes into your mind when you hear the word "war"?

Will it be soldiers, tanks, and weapons advancing into enemy territory? Or will it be people fearing airstrikes or memories of the past? Some may imagine the current international situation and the hegemony of various countries.

How people perceive war varies for each person,

and we believe that there are two main perspectives among them.

One is war seen from an "individual" perspective. This is the idea of facing war as one human being.

For example,

from the perspective of a war survivor, war may seem like a traumatic experience.

For those who are engaged in education, many may focus on how to learn from history and how to communicate it to our students.

Politicians will be taking charge of informing the public and taking the lead on what to do in the future.

And for us young people, it is fearful and is anxiety for the future itself.

Like this, individuals' perspectives toward war differ depending on their experiences.

War seen from "individual" perspective

War seen from "collective" view

The world EYEAmWatching aims

Our goal is "a world without war."

In order to achieve this,

we believe that there are two ways to approach according to the

perspectives above.

Specifically, the two ways are as follows.

★Continuing to express our thoughts toward war

★Coming up with concrete ways to guide the international community in eliminating war

Second is the perspective of war focused on the "collective" view.

War seen from a country-by-country standpoint

Religious perspectives

Historical perspectives

Ethnics perspectives

We can see that these are what we usually hear a lot about in the press.

We believe that looking at war from "individual" perspective and looking at war from "collective" perspective are both important.

However, we tend to be overly conscious of the collective perspective that tends to be covered in news reports. It is easy for us to forget to think about war as a single person, a human being.

It is also very important to find practical solutions toward a world without war.

However, when too much attention is focused on the rivalry between countries and the state of warfare, the existence of war could become a routine without us noticing.

War becoming the norm in our society unconsciously; to prevent this state from happening, each of us must remember to think about war and express our awareness of "opposition" to it.

We are running EYEAmWatching in order to question this once again to society by sharing thoughts through our individual "eyes" on war and providing an opportunity to think about war as individuals.

The Two Approaches------------------------

★Continuing to express our thoughts toward war

ーAs a human being and a member of society

Wars are often caused by the interests of nations, regardless of the thoughts of citizens. However, no matter whether citizens' opinions are heard or not, it is us ourselves who are directly affected (harmed) by war.

This is why,

in a world that tends to forget our honest feelings about war as individuals,

by continuing to "think" and "express" thoughts about war from an individual perspective, we can

・spread awareness of opposition toward war

・achieve a society (the world) in which individuals can continue to express their will

★Coming up with concrete ways to guide the international community in eliminating war

 ーAs a society

We believe that it is important to gather information on the historical background, religious relations, political international situation by ourselves to "know," "discuss with others," and "vote" in order to lead to a better world.

We also believe that we need to do what we can do in our respective occupations.

For example,

・Educators→Explaining the situation, teaching how to gather information, and teaching the importance of taking an interest

・Politicians→Thinking of better improvement policies and sharing information to the public, incorporating the opinions of the public

・Researchers→Devising a better social system: how the UN works and how society works

・Legal affairs→Devising better international law, eliminating war as the last resolution

Attitude toward war as EYEAm Watching

is working to convey to the world once again the importance of thinking about war from the perspective of "individuals", which is often forgotten, and to continue expressing individual feelings about war in the form of "eyes".
